Honey Garlic Chicken and Rice

Serves 4  539 calories per portion -47g protein-70g carbs-7g fat

Ingredients

For the Chicken:
  • 700g Chicken Boneless, cubed
  • 30ml Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Minced Ginger
  • 1 tsp White Pepper
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
For the Gravy:
  • 30g Light Butter
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 75ml Soy Sauce
  • 75ml Water
  • 30g Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cornflour, mixed with cold water
  • 45g Honey
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Flakes
To Serve:
  • 700g Cooked White Rice ( 200g uncooked, roughly)

Method

For the Chicken:
  1. To the diced chicken, add soy sauce, black pepper, white pepper, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Mix well, and leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Spray a frying pan with oil, then add the chicken, and fry until thoroughly cooked. Set aside wile you prepare the gravy.
For the Gravy:
  1. In the frying pan, add the butter and garlic, and fry for 1 minute.
  2. Add the soy sauce, water, brown sugar, chilli flakes, and honey to the pan, and cook until it starts to simmer.
  3. Now stir in the cornflour mixture, and cook until the sauce starts to thicken. If it is too thick, add some more water, until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Add the cooked chicken, and mix thoroughly.
  5. Serve with boiled rice, and sprinkle of sesame seeds.
